Welcome to Manhattan Carpet Cleaning
Many carpet cleaning substances contain harmful toxic solvents and compounds, contributing to poor air quality and harmful to children and pets. These same substances also threaten the environment by reducing oxygen supply to the lakes and streams they inevitably end up in. In particular, there are 2 harful substances that you should avoid that is commonly present in professional carpet cleansers.
- Perchloroethylene: (commonly called "perc") - An additive that causes dizziness, fatigue and nausea if ingested or inhaled. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also claims it causes kidney and liver damage.
- Naphthalene: A solvent produced from coal tar. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, it is toxic to the human central nervous system and a possible carcinogen.
The use of these products can ultimitly trigger asthma attacks and even seizures. And if wastewater is not properly disposed of, it will likely enter waterways.
Our products are recognized by and designated environmentally safe from the Design for the Environment (DfE) Program, operated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The DfE promotes "Green Chemistry" and urges the use of organic enzyme-based cleansers that are safe for people and the environment.
